Presented by the Alberta Centre for Sustainable Rural Communities in partnership with the Sustainable Food Endowment and the Food Artisans of Camrose County.

Looking to connect with others who love to grow and harvest food? Are you interested in learning about ways to strengthen rural communities? Want to hear about opportunities to become a farmer? Then join us at ‘Connecting to Land Through Food: A community conversation’ to connect with regenerative farmers, food growers, local food enthusiasts, and prairie advocates on Treaty 6 Territory in Camrose.

‘Connecting to Land Through Food’ will be an evening of community building, knowledge sharing, and storytelling. To kick it all off, the Food Artisans of Camrose County will be curating a wonderful selection of local food for us to enjoy, then we’ll be joined by Alex Pulwicki (Young Agrarians), and local farmers, who will talk about ways to build a strong and active community of new farmers in the prairies.

This free event will be held both in-person and online, however, you must register in advance.

This gathering is part of the Alberta Centre for Sustainable Rural Communities ‘Food Sustainability Lecture & Film Series’, a series of events focused on issues relating to food sustainability, especially as they relate to broader issues relevant to rural sustainability. More info about the ACSRC can be found at uab.ca/ACSRC

This event is made possible through a generous contribution from the Sustainable Food Endowment.

Alex Pulwicki

Young Agrarians, Alberta & E-Learning Program Manager

https://youngagrarians.org

Alex Pulwicki (she/her) loves nothing more than bringing together people to celebrate local food and farms! As the Alberta & E-Learning Manager for Young Agrarians she gets to meet amazing new and aspiring farmers and help them to connect with the resources and support needed to start farming. She enjoys making online spaces a place to build connections with people near and far. Alex has worked and volunteered at a number of farms across Alberta and is passionate about small-scale dairy and cheesemaking.

Andrea & Denis Forstbauer

Grey Arrow Farm,

https://greyarrowfarm.ca/

Denis is a middle school teacher, born and raised on his family's 100 acre biodynamic organic vegetable farm in Chilliwack, BC with his 11 brothers and sisters. He enjoys connecting with people, laughing around the campfire, and playing competitive board games. He has long maintained his love of organic farming and enthusiasm for fresh vegetables, and dreamed for many years of one day owning his own farm.

Andrea is an artist, with a passion for design, delicious food, and getting her hands dirty. Their passions joined early in their marriage, and they spent many summers working together out in the field, planting, cultivating, and harvesting vegetables on the family farm, hosting dinners, and running market stands together at local farmer's markets.

As their little family grew, so did their dreams. In 2016, they purchased Grey Arrow Farm (previously Sunhill Gardens) - a beautiful 35-acre vegetable farm bordering the peaceful Lyseng Reservoir. They love to welcome locals into their CSA community and provide great-tasting, sustainably grown vegetables for individuals, restaurants, and families in the surrounding area.
