The Basic Field Locksmithing course is designed for people who have less than one year of full-time locksmith experience.
Class Outline:
- Introduction to the class, overview of the locksmith trade, ethics, and tools
- Cylinder basics, pin tumbler formats, key basics, key creation, pinning and rekeying, basic masterkey overview
- Door construction, residential hardware, commercial hardware, exit devices, closers, auxiliary hardware
- Lockouts, lock bypassing, lock picking, alternate bypass methods
- Access control basics, access control hardware, basic overview of access control troubleshooting and repair
- Locksmithing best practices, record keeping, part identification, part sourcing, quoting
- Scenario-based skills stations
Class Information & Pricing:
• $1,500 for the 40-hour class
• 8 hours per day from Monday - Friday
• Includes a class book and tool bag with tools
• Lunch will be provided daily by Wesco
• Attendees are responsible for travel, hotel, breakfasts & dinners
Locksmith licensing varies by state and local jurisdiction. Completion of this course may not satisfy licensing regulations in all areas.
