Films to be shown with a short break in-between:

Ukraine 1933: Seeds of Hunger (2023) [French with English Subtitles, 1hr 8m duration]

In March 1933, Gareth Jones, a young Welsh journalist, entered into Ukraine clandestinely. The "breadbasket" of the Soviet Union was then experiencing a totally unprecedented famine, both in terms of its scale and its causes. Stalin, who wanted to keep the unrealistic objectives of his five-year plans and to punish the peasants who resisted collectivization, decided to confiscate all the crops in Ukraine. On his return to Britain, the journalist alerts the world, but the lies and manipulations of the USSR triumph.

Holodomor: Voices of Survivors (2015) [English, 30m duration]

This documentary includes the testimonies of Ukrainian Canadians about how they survived the Holodomor—the genocide, which was planned and carried out by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in 1932–1933. In this film, collected testimonies vividly show unexplored period of history, the consequences of which continue to respond today.
