Course Description:
Join us for a one-day educational workshop tailored to those seeking to enhance their understanding of Parkinson's Disease.
This workshop is designed to empower Physicians and Nurse Practitioners in providing evidence-based care for people with Parkinson’s disease and related disorders, especially relevant for those caring for older adults.
Course Objectives:
After the course, you would be equipped to:
- Diagnose Parkinson’s disease and distinguish it from other causes of Parkinsonism in clinical practice, including vascular, drug-induced, and atypical Parkinsonism.
- Perform a Parkinson's-specific physical exam.
- Apply evidence-based lifestyle measures for Parkinson’s disease (e.g., exercise, diet).
- Identify how and when to initiate treatment for motor symptoms.
- Recognize and manage common non-motor symptoms (“the low-hanging fruit”).
- Understand common motor complications and fluctuations, and their basic management.
- Approach advanced Parkinsonism and neuro-palliative care.
