Dress Code
The dress code for the event is business casual. ACS CAN branded apparel is encouraged! And because meeting rooms can be chilly, a light sweater is also a great idea.
Health and Safety Tips
The health and safety of all our guests and participants is our number one goal. Please see below for important details which will continue to be updated based on our unique needs and review the COVID-19 Waiver. If you are feeling sick or have been recently exposed to someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19, you should stay home. People who have underlying health conditions or taking medications that weaken the immune system, should talk to their healthcare provider before attending large gatherings.
RECOGNIZE COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
The CDC has identified the symptoms of a COVID-19 infection. If you have one or more of these symptoms on the day of the event, please stay home. If you are waiting for COVID-19 test results or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home unless you get a negative test result before the event.
YOUR SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY
The COVID-19 virus and its variants are highly contagious. Some people infected with these viruses get severely ill, become hospitalized or die. Event attendees acknowledge the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus, assume all such risk, and the American Cancer Society, Inc., shall not be held liable.
PROTECT OUR COMMUNITY
Help protect our community. It is strongly encouraged that individual attendees are vaccinated. The wearing of face masks at the event will follow local guidelines. Please report to your staff partner if you later contract COVID-19 and believe you could have received or spread the virus at the event.

How can I promote sustainability during my ACS event?
WHY IT MATTERS:
Reduced Resource Usage:
By conserving water, energy, and materials, we ensure these vital resources are available for future generations. As stewards, it’s our responsibility to use these resources wisely.
Less Chemical Usage and Waste Generation:
Minimizing the use of harmful products helps protect our ecosystems. By being conscious consumers, we can reduce pollution and promote healthier communities.
Decreased Pollution:
Adopting sustainable practices reduces pollution in our air and water, contributing to a cleaner environment. As stewards, we have a duty to safeguard the natural world for all living beings.
Better Personal Health:
Engaging in sustainability can lead to healthier living spaces and improved well-being. By reducing exposure to toxins and promoting a cleaner environment, we create a healthier future for ourselves and our communities.
STEPS I CAN TAKE:
1 Bring Your Own Reusable Items
- Bring your own reusable water bottle to avoid single-use plastic.
- Bring your own coffee mug to reduce waste from disposable cups.
2 Go Digital
- Access meeting materials on your devices instead of printing them out.
3 Track You Emissions
- Use tools like My Event Footprint to monitor and reduce your travel emissions.
4 Be Mindful of Food Choices
- Opt for vegetarian or vegan options when available to reduce environmental impact and promote healthier eating.
- Only take what you will eat to minimize food waste.
5 Conserve Resources
- Turn off lights and electronics when leaving your hotel room.
- Use towels and linens more than once during your stay.
- Decline housekeeping services during your stay.
6 Participate in Recycling
- Dispose of waste properly by using recycling bins for appropriate materials.
- Recycle your room key at the end of your stay.
7 Choose Sustainable Transportation
- If traveling to the venue, consider carpooling, using public transport, or opting for shared rides.
8 Carbon Footprint Awareness
- Air travel accounts for about 85% of an event's carbon footprint. To reduce your impact, consider these best practices when traveling:
- Choose Direct Flights: They produce fewer emissions.
- Fly Economy Class: More passengers help spread emissions.
- Offset Your Carbon Emissions: Support projects like reforestation.
- Pack Light: Lighter luggage saves fuel.
- Use Public Transportation: It lowers emissions to and from the airport.
- Consider Trains or Buses: For shorter distances, these are often more eco-friendly.
- Bring Your Own Reusable Items: Use reusable water bottles, utensils, and bags to cut waste.
- Minimize In-Flight Waste: Avoid single-use items and dispose of waste properly.
9 Provide Feedback
- We value your input! Please share your feedback on our sustainable practices and suggest improvements for future events.
